| Data
from your operations represent, at least, two things. First, the
size of the characteristic of the part being made. Second, as an
indicator of how the process is changing with respect to the characteristic
of interest. In order to get the most for your efforts, some analysis
of the data resulting from product or process measurements is appropriate.
Data derived from product development, validation and verification
activities also need to be
analyzed in order to arrive at a proper conclusion concerning the
product being developed. The question is, what and how much analysis
to do.
In this course you will learn to conceptualize the logic supporting
product and process measurement procedures in your company by understanding:
- Where the numbers come from
- Why they are collected
- How they help do the job
- What analytical techniques are available
- How to select the appropriate technique
- How to use the results of your analysis
